Westview’s Jhordan Bowls takes a court commander role against Fairfax’s Bryan Mathews
PHOENIX- Westview Boys Basketball comes to Phoenix Union’s Coyote Classic confident and strong with two wins to start the tournament.
On Monday Nov. 25, the Westview Knights started off the tournament against Betty Fairfax’s Stampede. With a late game at 8:30 p.m., the Knights brought all the energy to the court.
“We came out here to play great team basketball. We just have fun as a team and stay composed to never fall off as a team,” Uriyah Hennix, a junior for the Knights, said.

The Knights decimated the Stampede 76-to-36 leaving a running clock opportunity in the last quarter. Coming from Avondale, Westview knew to make an impact on the central Phoenix area.
“We’re having a lot of fun, breaking stereotypes in our community. Coming from our households to the court, it means a lot,” Jhordan Bowls, a senior for The Knights, said.
Last season, Westview was 14-and-11 and went 5-and-7 in the 5A Desert West conference. To start off the 2024-to-2025 season, they’ve attributed three wins all at an away or neutral site. The Knights lost their home-opener on Nov.20 to West Point which gave them more motivation to carry onto the tournament.
“I just want to represent this jersey. They say we aren’t too great of a school but I’m ready to help put us on the map as a well-respected team,” Hennix said.
Westview’s ambitions for the season have helped bring a group of gentlemen together. On Tuesday, Nov. 26, the Knights were back on the court to play Marcos de Niza for game two of the tournament. The Knights pulled away with another win against Marcos de Niza, 76-to-73.
Addarius Miles, #21 for the Knights, exerts passion on the court. His big comment for the Westview community is to “get loud”.

“Get loud, we want you loud! We are going to feed from all the energy and that’s what we are here to do,” Miles said.
The Westview Knights will play again on Nov. 27 against the Dobson Mustangs back at South Mountain High School at 6:30 p.m.
