Netflix Releases New Content at Live ‘TUDUM’ Event

Netflix released new shows, movies, and teasers during its live-streamed event, “TUDUM, on May 31. Hosted by star Sofia Carson, the global pop culture showcase featured guest stars and sneak peeks into upcoming Netflix content. If you missed it, here are 10 things to look forward to in the rest of 2025:
‘Squid Game’ Season 3TUDUM opened with a flash mob of “Squid Game” players marching into the Kia Forum, later joined by the cast of Season 2. Fans got a first look at the trailer for the third and final season, set to premiere June 25.
‘Stranger Things’ Season Finale“Stranger Things” stars Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, and Finn Wolfhard were joined virtually by Gaten Matarazzo and Millie Bobby Brown to debut the teaser for Season 5. The final season will be released in three parts: Nov. 26, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.
‘Wednesday’ Season 2Netflix unveiled the first six minutes of Season 2 of “Wednesday,” starring Jenna Ortega. The preview showed Wednesday Addams caught in chaos, from TSA confrontations to escaping kidnappers. The season will drop in two parts: Aug. 6 and Sept. 3. After her show-stopping performance, Lady Gaga revealed she will make a cameo in the new season.
‘One Piece’ Season 2A new trailer for the hit manga adaptation “One Piece” introduced fan-favorite character Tony Tony Chopper. Although no release date has been announced, the cast teased that Season 2 will be bigger and better.
‘Rip,’ Starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Fans got a first look at “Rip,” a crime drama based on a true story and starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Teyana Taylor, Steven Yeun, and Sasha Calle. The film is set to premiere in 2026.
Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ Director Guillermo del Toro premiered the trailer for his adaptation of “Frankenstein,” featuring Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, and Oscar Isaac. The film is scheduled for a November release.
‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’The next installment in the “Knives Out” series, titled “Wake Up Dead Man,” will premiere Dec. 13. Director Rian Johnson introduced the cast, including Daniel Craig, Kerry Washington, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, and Cailee Spaeny.
‘Building the Band’ Backstreet Boy AJ McLean introduced “Building the Band,” a new music competition, initially started by the late Liam Payne. Contestants form bands based solely on hearing each other’s voices from separate rooms. Filming began earlier this year; a release date is not yet set.
‘Happy Gilmore 2’Adam Sandler promoted the sequel to his classic comedy “Happy Gilmore.” Most of the original cast will return, with new faces joining. The film premieres on July 25.
‘My Oxford Year’ Sofia Carson announced her new romantic comedy, “My Oxford Year,” co-starring “Bridgerton” actor Corey Mylchreest. The film will be released Aug. 1.
Additional appearances came from stars of Netflix’s young adult shows, including Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr. from “Forever,” the cast of “Outer Banks,” and stars from “My Life With the Walter Boys.” WWE stars like Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, Rhea Ripley, and CM Punk also appeared.
Reality TV fans got treated to a moment with Vanessa Lachey of “Love Is Blind” and Abby and David from “Love on the Spectrum.” Even Cookie Monster made an appearance as part of Netflix’s new deal with Sesame Street.
The ad-free live event offered fans of all ages a preview of what’s to come in the Netflix lineup through the end of the year.
